User Client -
This commission involved establishing a bid winning presentation to Leicester College in conjunction with Summers Inman (Lead Consultants).
The project involved establishing the client user key brief objectives and developing appropriate design proposals suitable to be taken forward to planning application and Skills Council funding bid.
The design proposals were rigorously tested through client briefing and verification meetings to ensure the development of appropriate proposals.
The MVE building is sited on a green field pre cleared site adjacent Abbey Park Campus block A and extends the motor vehicle engineering facility on this campus, comprising a 30m x 30m portal frame industrial building.
The Teaching and Exhibition building is developed as an extension to the existing motor vehicle work shop and is sited fronting onto Belgrave Road providing a highly visible shop window to advertise the college activities and student work.
The show room design develops a glue laminated timber and column frame with tubular steel spandrel bracing developing a single span double height open hall space.
The building is highly glazed and includes solar shading to the east and west elevations.
To facilitate open views of the exhibition building the existing site boundary walls are demolished affording open views from the Belgrave Road.
